Hermanus has many sporting opportunities, including golf, hang-gliding, sailing, fishing, scuba diving and hiking. Apart from the Hermanus Golf Club in town, there are superb facilities at nearby Kleinmond and Arabella Estate.

For the hiker there is the Fernkloof Nature Reserve overlooking Hermanus with spectacular indigenous fauna and flora with more than 1100 different species. There are some 50kms of well-maintained hiking trails in the reserve - hikes vary between 20 minutes and several hours - depending on your fitness.

There are many scenic drives and day-trips around the town and from the mountains overlooking Hermanus hang-gliders are able to enjoy the magnificent view over Walker Bay. Or if you are in the mood for a lazy, sunny day at the soft, powdery white beaches, there are several safe spots in Hermanus, Onrus and Vermont.
